ग्राहकको वास्तविक पहिचान तथा सोको सम्पुष्टि गर्ने प्रक्रिया नै ग्राहक पहिचान हो । ग्राहकले मर्चेन्ट बैिंकङ्ग कम्पनि मा विभिन्न कारोबारहरु गर्दै गर्दा ग्राहकले गर्ने त्यस्ता कारोबार तथा निजसंग सम्बन्धित पर्याप्त/उपयुक्त विवरण/जानकारी तथा उपलव्ध गराएका उपरोक्त विवरणहरुलाई प्रमाणित/पुष्टि गर्ने कागजातहरु कम्पनिले ग्राहकसंग माग गर्ने गर्दछ ।
आफ्नो फोन नम्बर, सम्पर्क ठेगाना, पेशा, व्यवसाय, कम्पनी संगको सम्वन्धको उद्देष्य, आय तथा कारोवारको सिमा आदि जस्ता विवरणहरु परिवर्तन भएमा सो परिवर्तित विवरणहरु अद्यावधिक गर्न कम्पनीलाई अनुरोध गर्नु पर्दछ ।

कुनै गैरकानूनी क्रियाकलापबाट कमाएको/आर्जन गरेको रकम/कालो धन मर्चेन्ट बैंकिङ्ग कारोबार मार्फत् बैकिङ्ग प्रणालीमा प्रवेश भएपछि वा बैकिङ्ग प्रणालीमा प्रवेश हुने अवस्था शृजना भएपछि सम्पत्ति शुद्धीकरण भएको भनिन्छ ।
